Hi everyone! This is Liz, you probably are going to be chatting with me. Please let me tell you what we do here.
For centuries turtles have visited our land (Sinaloa) and we haven't even noticed. But one day, about 50 years ago, a biologist realized this event, so he started to move with the local communities in order to protect them. And that’s how the government dictated this place as a Natural Protected Area.
We are always in need, and 10 years ago (2013) a Social Psychologist & environmental enthusiast started providing these tours in order to sustain the activities in the Sanctuary. He passed away in 2020, his legacy inspires us to continue helping.
Today, we are all volunteers, we are local people who care about our city, our land and our planet. We have our regular jobs, and in our free time, WE SAVE THE TURTLES!
Thank you for being here reading this!
